Area clubs dominate equestrian vaulting provincials

Two equestrian vaulting clubs near Olds dominated during the 2017 Alberta Equestrian Vaulting Association/Saskatchewan Equestrian Vaulting Association Provincial Vaulting Championships in Stavely, Alta., earlier this fall.

The Chinook Vaulters, located east of Bowden, also did well.

Heather Latimer, on Slyde On Over, came first and was named champion in the Canter A Women's Senior category. And Alexa Klein finished second in the Walk D category with Spice.

In essence, equestrian vaulting is gymnastics performed on horses.

The championships were held earlier this fall in Stavely, Alta. In total, it attracted 135 entries from 78 participants who competed with 26 horses.
