OLDS — The U18 AA Olds Grizzlys hockey team went right back at it this weekend after a good performance in their recent home tournament.

On Sunday, they were to host Lethbridge, just a couple of days after going all the way down to Taber to face off against the Golden Suns.

In the Ramada U18 AA Olds Grizzlys Classic, held Oct. 31-Nov. 3, the Grizzlys went 3-2 in the tournament but suffered an overtime loss on Saturday night. They ended up finishing fifth in the tournament, which was won by the NWCAA Stamps.

They made up for that by winning their Sunday game in exciting fashion – overtime.

“The boys played really well this weekend,” head coach Chris Overwater wrote in an email.

“With us playing five games in four days, (it was) a grind on all of the players.

“We’ve been dealing with the injury bug the entire season; we used three affiliate players this weekend to help us out.”

Overwater said the tournament underlined the need for the U18 Grizzlys to be “more consistent in our effort level.”

“We are a very strong hockey team all through all four lines. We just need to work on going to battle every shift,” he wrote.
