As they prepare to take on the Camrose Kodiaks tonight in Camrose, the Olds Grizzlys are just a game below .500, according to statistics released by the Alberta Junior Hockey League (AJHL).
That's pretty good for a team that wasn't guaranteed to even be in the league late this past spring.
Unfortunately, their last outing wasn't the result they were looking for. The Grizzlys were pounded 8-2 by the Dragons in Drumheller Sunday night.
As a result of that loss and a loss to the Sherwood Park Crusaders during the AJHL Showcase a few days ago, the Grizzlys are on a two-game losing streak.
They split their games during the Showcase, held Sept. 28-30 in Camrose.
On Sept. 28, the Grizzlys dominated the Drayton Valley Thunder 8-1, before the Crusaders beat them 5-1 Sept. 30.
Before that though, the Grizzlys beat the 2017 AJHL champion Brooks Bandits, beating them 3-1 Sept. 26 at the Sportsplex.
As a result, according to Monday's AJHL stats, the Grizzlys are in sixth place in the eight-team Viterra South division, with three wins and four losses for six points in seven games.
Their goals-against stats are close. They've scored 24 goals, but given up 28 for a -4 differential and a percentage of 0.429.
