Local skaters headed to Team Alberta hockey camps

Four local hockey players have made the cut for Team Alberta's U-16 summer camps in Camrose in early July.

Four local hockey players have made the cut for Team Alberta's U-16 summer camps in Camrose in early July.

On the girls' side forwards Kallie Clouston and Emma Dixon of Olds, and Dylan Norrie of Bowden will make the trip to the U-16 Female Summer Camp on June 29ñJuly 2, to skate with 60 of the top female hockey players in the province. The trio were selected from the Alberta Challenge held in Olds last month, and could eventually be considered for the U-18 Female squad that would face off in the 2019 Canada Winter Games in Red Deer.

Defenceman Ronan Seeley from Olds is headed solo to join 80 other 15-year- olds at the Team Alberta U-16 Male Summer Camp on July 4 ñ 9.

Seeley was selected based on scouting throughout the past season, as well as performance at the Alberta Cup in Canmore in April.

Players shortlisted after the upcoming Camrose camp are eligible to be part of Team Alberta this fall, with a chance to compete in the 2017 Western Canada U-16 Challenge Cup.
