An Olds resident has been named an Alberta Midget AAA Hockey League Source For Sports Player of the Month.
Ryan McBeath, a forward who plays for the league's Red Deer Optimist Chiefs, is one of two players of the month for December. The other is forward Davis DiSciglio of the Sherwood Park Kings.
McBeath racked up five goals and six assists for 11 points in December and was "a major contributor in the Chiefs going 5-0-1," a news release from the league says.
"He is a very strong physical player with the offensive ability to score and make big plays. Ryan is a strong fore checker as well he has been a key component on both power play and penalty killing units.
"Ryan is a team leader with strong work ethic in both games and in practices and looks at every opportunity to continue to develop not only his skills but his overall understanding of the game," the release adds.
