The Olds Grizzlys have a chance to move up the standings when they host the Calgary Canucks this Friday, Dec. 29, 7 p.m. at the Sportsplex.
As of Monday, Dec. 18, the Canucks had 31 points in 35 games, just two points more than the Grizzlys who had 29 points in 36 games.
Should they win, the Grizzlys have yet another chance ñ albeit a bit tougher ñ to climb further the next night (Saturday, Dec. 30), when they host the Calgary Mustangs at 7 p.m. at the Sportsplex. As of Monday, the Mustangs were in fourth place in the eight-team Viterra South division with 37 points in 37 games.
The Grizzlys had a pretty good week last week, winning two of three games.
On Tuesday, they edged the Camrose Kodiaks 6-5 in overtime in Camrose, then beat the Lloydminster Bobcats 5-3 on Friday at the Sportsplex.
Unfortunately, the week ended with a loss, as the Sherwood Park Crusaders won 4-1 Saturday, also at the Sportsplex.
