The Olds Grizzlys will finish off a four-game road trip this Thursday night in Calgary against the Mustangs.
On Groundhog Day (Friday, Feb. 2), the Grizzlys will pop up to face the Camrose Kodiaks at home in the Sportsplex. Game time is 8 p.m., instead of the usual 7:30 start. We'll see who sees whose shadow.
As of Monday, the Mustangs were 10 points ahead of the Grizzlys, the basement dwellers in the Alberta Junior Hockey League's Viterra South Division. The Mustangs had 43 points in 50 games (19 wins, 26 losses, five overtime losses and two overtime wins). That put them in sixth place, three points above the Canmore Eagles.
The Grizzlys had 33 points in 49 games (15 wins, 31 losses, three overtime losses and two overtime wins).
During the road trip, the Grizzlys were beaten 4-1 by the Sherwood Park Crusaders on Friday, lost 4-3 in overtime to the Grande Prairie Storm on Saturday, and were hammered 5-1 by the Whitecourt Wolverines on Sunday.
On Tuesday, Jan. 23, they were trounced 5-1 by the Spruce Grove Saints at the Sportxplex. The game was a homecoming for former Grizzlys captain and local boy Chase Olsen, who was traded to the Saints earlier this month.
