Sundre Minor Ball recently wrapped up the end of another smashing season.

Including the starter league for children ages 5-8, there were 13 teams fielded this year, said Michele Blackhurst, the association's secretary.

"We had over 150 kids registered in total," she told the Round Up.

There were three teams in the first league for young players, who stay in Sundre playing against other local teams, she said.

"This is a great way to learn the game and still have a lot of fun!"

Additionally, there was in the girls' softball league one U-10 team, one U-12 team as well as one U-14 team. In boys' baseball, there were two rookie teams for ages 7-9, two mosquito teams for ages 9-11, two peewee teams for ages 11-13 as well as one bantam team for ages 13-15. The teams, many of which participated in tournaments as well, generally tend to celebrate the season's end towards the last part of June with some kind of windup game, party or combination of both, she said.

"These (events) can vary, but it is quite common to have a parent-versus-players game and a potluck to end the season!"

The association also welcomed new directors this season.

"Sundre Minor Ball was fortunate enough to get a few new volunteers on our board this year, and it has really made a difference. We are excited about this change and what these new volunteers will bring to our association," she said.

"We have such a wonderful group of volunteers and parents that it really helps make the season run so smoothly!" she said, expressing her appreciation for their contributions.

"Without them, the kids would not get a chance to play!"
