Next Friday (May 26), former Olds Grizzlys player Don Simpson will find his way into the Alberta Sports Hall of Fame when the 1984-85 NAIT Ooks men's hockey team is inducted as a whole for their 1985 Canadian Colleges Athletic Association (CCAA) Championships win.
Simpson, who grew up in Lacombe, played left wing for four seasons with the Ooks and was a member of two national championship teams. He studied hydrocarbon engineering technology, and remained in Edmonton after he graduated. Prior to joining NAIT, Don played for the Olds Grizzlys (AJHL) during the 1982–83 season.
