Aalbers re-elected Mountain View County reeve for fourth time

MOUNTAIN VIEW COUNTY - For the fourth year in a row, Division 5 Coun. Angela Aalbers has been elected reeve of Mountain View County.

The election by acclamation came during the Oct. 23 organizational meeting, held in council chambers and online.

Aalbers, a third-term councillor, was the first woman ever elected reeve of the county in 2021, being re-elected to the same position in 2022, in 2023 and now again in 2024.

The reeve is the principal spokesperson for the county and the chair of council meetings.

Following her election, Aalbers said, “I’m humbled and I’m honoured and very thankful that you are entrusting me with this position again for one more year. I will work hard.”

She told her follow councillors, “Your direction and your support to ensure that we can speak for the municipality is incredible and I just want to thank everyone here at this table. It’s a great team.”

Division 1 Coun. Dwayne Fulton was elected deputy reeve for a second straight year. Fulton and Coun. Jennifer Lutz were nominated for the position, with Fulton elected by secret ballot of council.

The Oct. 22 organizational also saw newly-elected Division 4 Coun. Tiffany Nixon sworn in following her Oct. 16 byelection win.
