MOUNTAIN VIEW COUNTY – Approximately 100 top-notch archers of all ages from around the province will soon be putting their marksmanship skills to the test.
Sanctioned by Archery Alberta, the PSE Classic represents the seasonal culmination of several shoots held up north as well as down south that ultimately lead to the final round of the Archery Shooters Association (ASA) tour.
“This is the third year in a row that they’ve (Archery Alberta) chosen Elk Ridge Archery Club,” said Tracey Klettl, an event organizer and club member whose acreage southeast of Bergen boasts an impressive outdoor course to host the event.
The shoot takes place Aug. 9-11 with check-in starting on Saturday at 8 a.m. and shooting getting underway by 9 a.m. following opening ceremonies, with everything wrapping on Sunday following a shoot-off.
“We’re proud to be hosting this in the beautiful Mountain View County district and Sundre area,” said Klettl.
She anticipates approximately 100 contenders will be competing in both men and women as well as youth categories.
The event is not a qualifier for a national competition.
“This particular shoot is an Alberta homegrown one,” she said.
But the top-scorers will still come away not only with a proverbial feather in their caps, but especially stories to tell.
“The end result is people get a really nice a buckle and huge bragging rights,” she said.
The event requires advanced registration through www.asatour.ca.
