Area fire departments give quarterly report to county

MOUNTAIN VIEW COUNTY – County council has been updated on recent activities of the area’s fire departments, outlining call volumes and incidents responded to over the first three months of 2020.

The update came in a recent report to Mountain View County council from Chris Atchison, director of legislative, community and agricultural services, during ae recent council meeting.

Between January 1 and March 31, the Carstairs Fire Department responded to 47 calls, including 17 in the rural locations outside the municipality.

There were two odour investigation calls, nine EMS assistance calls, two outside fire calls, nine motor vehicle calls, nine structure fire calls, 12 alarm calls, two vehicle fire calls, one citizen assistance call, and one smoke investigation call.

Members responded to eight mutual aid calls outside the Carstairs department area.

The Cremona/Water Valley department responded to 55 incidents, including nine for medical assist, four for medical first response, five for mutual aid and four for structure fires.

The Olds Fire Department responded to 33 incidents, including 20 medical, four fire, two mutual aid and four motor vehicle collisions.

The Sundre department responded to 27 rural incidents, including six motor vehicle collisions, five mutual aid requests, five medical assists, and two fires.
