MOUNTAIN VIEW COUNTY - County council has approved the re-allocation of $600,000 in capital funding to various projects and reserves.
The move came by the way of three motions at the recently regularly scheduled council meeting, held in person and online.
Council approved the re-allocation of $101,859 in MSI program funding from bridge engineering to cost overages on the Bergen Shop and East Side Gravel Haul project.
“The Bergen Shop project was $40,000 over budget due to unexpectedly high utility hookup costs, especially the gas lines which had to be routed differently than in the original estimates leading to higher installation costs,” administration said in a briefing note to council.
“The target for the East Side Gravel Haul project was to supply one year's worth of crushed gravel hauled by gravel contractors from the west to east side of the county. Throughout the project finance/operational services reviewed the project to estimate average daily haul rates, the project went over a couple days at a slight higher daily rate than estimated.”
In total just over 40,000 tonnes of gravel was moved to the Bittner gravel pit for use in the capital road program.
Council also approved the re-allocation of $298,000 in MSI surplus funding – $275,045 to five capital bridge projects and $22,954 to the subdivision re-chipping program,
Council also approved the re-allocation of $192,805 from the carryover project reserve to the bridge reserve.
