MOUNTAIN VIEW COUNTY – The county has suspended the sale of culverts to the public and discontinued the issuance of gravel permits for sales from county-owned pits, officials said Tuesday.
The moves are being made as part of the county’s COVID-19 response to ensure public distancing measures to safeguard staff and the public, said CAO Jeff Holmes.
Maintaining appropriate distancing between staff and the public during the transactions needed for both activities cannot be guaranteed, promoting the county’s actions, he said.

“It’s never an easy decision to adjust our programs and services, but we believe it is the correct decision given the current reality surrounding the COVID-19 situation in Alberta,” Holmes said.
Culverts are large metal pipes placed under roadways to allow for the flow of water. The county owns seven gravel pits in the municipality.
The changes will be in effect until provincial and federal health authorities permit the resumption of regular business activities, he said.
