CREMONA — The Cremona Lions Club has taken over the operation of the 40-site seasonal campground on the Little Red Deer River about four kilometres north of Water Valley, officials said.
The campground is located on Rge. Rd. 52 and owned by Mountain View County. The facility can accommodate large RVs and trailers, tents and smaller units.
Campground amenities include picnic tables, fire pits, outhouses, bear-proof garbage bins, a playground and non-potable water. It does not offer power or water hookups.
The caretaker of the campground is Holly Stair, who can be reached at 403-507-9536. More information about the campground and reservations can be found at cremonalions.ca.
The club also operates the RV dump station in Cremona during the camping season.
Meanwhile, the club’s normal fundraising activities have been severely limited over the past year due to COVID. However, support has remained strong from the community, with beneficiaries including the following:
The Cremona Agricultural Society for upgrades to the arena, STARS, Cremona School Enhancement Society, Mountain View Food Bank, Lions Youth Camp, Guide Dogs, Santa’s Anonymous, Congregational Church Christmas Hampers, Cremona School Breakfast Program, scholarships, and many local functions, facilities, youth clubs and youth sports programs.
The club always welcomes new members, with anyone interested encouraged to call John at 403-899-3063.
