Fog expected to make Friday travel hazardous in Red Deer, Mountain View counties

A fog advisory was issued for Mountain View County and Red Deer County along with urban centres near them Friday.

In it’s 8:05 a.m. Nov. 15 alert update, Environment and Climate Change Canada (Environment Canada) issued a special weather statement for both counties.

“Travel is expected to be hazardous due to reduced visibility in some locations,” the alert said.

Dense fog with near zero visibility is occurring over some areas, the federal agency said.

“The visibility will gradually improve later this morning. Visibility may be significantly and suddenly reduced to near zero,” the alert said.

The special weather statement is in effect for:

• Mountain View County near Carstairs, Cremona, Water Valley, Olds, Didsbury and Sundre.

• Red Deer County near Penhold, Innisfail, Bowden, Pine Lake, Spruce View, Red Lodge Provincial Park and Sylvan Lake.
