MOUNTAIN VIEW COUNTY - A Foothills County man has been charged with a property crime again barely a week after RCMP charged him with property crimes in Mountain View County.

The Southern Alberta District RCMP Crime Reduction Unit, in partnership with High River RCMP, initiated an investigation into stolen property in southern Alberta on May 2.

According to police, GPS technology led officers to a rural location in Foothills County, where a stolen generator was believed to be.

In executing a search warrant, police say officers located the stolen generator, a stolen enclosed utility trailer and over a thousand pounds of copper wire that was actively being stripped for recycling purposes.

Chad Eroshinsky, 53, was charged with possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000 and theft over $5,000.

Clayton Whaling, 43, was charged with possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000 and breaching a court order.

Whaling had just been arrested in Mountain View County the previous week in relation to the Southern Alberta District RCMP Crime Reduction Unit’s investigation into property crimes in that county.

On April 22, officers conducted a traffic stop in the county on a white GMC Sierra towing a flat deck trailer and skid steer that was observed to have an obscured licence plate.

Police discovered the truck was stolen from Crossfield, the trailer was stolen from Calgary and the Caterpillar skid steer was stolen from Okotoks.

Whaling was subsequently charged with three counts of possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000.
