MOUNTAIN VIEW COUNTY - County council has approved a development permit for a accessory building - pavilion at the Heritage Centre by Mountain View Events facility near Cremona.

The move came by way of motion at the April 26 council meeting, held in person and on Zoom.

The property involved is located just east of the Village of Cremona on the north side of Highway 580. Because the property is designated direct control, council, and not the municipal planing commission, made the decision on the permit application.

The $110,000 project would see the construction of a 3,360 square foot building immediately west of the existing event facility.

“The pavilion ‘Longbranch Saloon’ will be used as an added outdoor amenity and, as the building is permanent, it will eliminate the necessity of larger tents installations that are costly and not as secure as a constructed building,” administration said in a briefing note to council.

“This building will be used for special events such as trade show booths better suited for outdoors, agricultural events and other outdoor events.”

The location and design of the accessory building will be complimentary to the main facility, the applicants said.

The approval comes with a number of conditions, including that the applicant, landowner and/or operation conform to the approved landscape plan, fire protection plan, transportation strategy, storm water management plan, site servicing plan, and signs plan submitted with previous applications at the site.
