MOUNTAIN VIEW COUNTY – Mountain View County council has approved an extension of the agreement with the Sundre Flying Club to manage the county-owned Sundre Airport until Dec. 31, 2021.
The move came by way of motion at the recent regularly scheduled council meeting. The existing agreement expires on Dec. 31, 2019.
“Administration has reviewed the proposed agreement, including obligations outlined within the agreement that the flying club is responsible for and associated timelines, with representatives from the Sundre Flying Club,” administration said in a briefing note to council.
“Both parties have agreed to the extension of the agreement which does not contemplate any major changes compared to the existing management agreement and as such it is being bought forward for council’s consideration.”
The club is responsible, in part, to “operate and maintain the premises (airport) in compliance with the Canadian Air Regulation and other applicable federal and provincial legislation, promptly undertake and pay for all maintenance, as allocated in the budget, that is the operator’s responsibility hereunder to ensure the premises are operational and maintained to the standards identified in the agreement” and “ensure all damaged items are secured and removed from service.”
Also under the agreement, the county has the right to “make alterations or additions to the premises at the sole cost of the county, which right may be exercised by the county in its unfettered discretion, without the same constituting a re-entry or a breach of any covenant for quiet enjoyment contained in the agreement.”
The airport is located southwest of the Town of Sundre.
