SUNDRE – There are numerous road closures in effect because of the wildfire that started burning out of control west of Water Valley Tuesday night in the Municipal District of Bighorn.
Road blocks have been established by RCMP on Highway 579, Highway 40, and at the Burnt Timber Gas Plant.
Sundre RCMP are advising area motorists to be aware of extended delays and closures at:
• North boundary: Burnt Timber Road at the intersection with Highway 40 and the Forestry Trunk intersection of Highway 734 and Township Road 302 A at Range Road 73 A.
• East boundary: Burnt Timber Road, Township Road 303B at Range Road 64 A (Burnt Timber gas plant access closed).
• South boundary: Range Road 579 to Dock Mills Road at Township Road 294 B
• West boundary: Highway 40 at Harrold Creek Road (Highway 579)
“Please avoid these areas during this time for first responders to work,” RCMP said in a press release.
