1956- 2023
With great sadness, we announce the passing of Fred on February 13, 2023, at the Olds Hospital at the age of 66 years, after a tough battle with cancer.
He was born December 19, 1956, in Olds, Alberta and was raised on a farm northwest of Sundre. After High School he worked a few different jobs including working on the oil rigs, until he found his calling with Canadian Pacific Railway and spent 30 years with them until his retirement in 2012. After retirement he kept busy helping friends and family, driving trucks and going out west to cut firewood.
He was a proud Didsbury Elk member and at one time held the position of The Exalted Ruler. Fred enjoyed playing ball, darts, curling, golfing, and fishing. He will be especially remembered for his love of camping and keeping everyone entertained with stories and jokes around the campfire.

He will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his wife Kathy of 33 years; daughters, Sheila Bishop, Sarah (Trevor) Harksen, Stacie (Clinton) Sadek; Kathy’s children, Kelly (Lindsey) Campbell, Karen Campbell, Kevin (Laureen) Campbell; and 17 grandchildren; sisters, Carol ( Dave) Burk, Sharon Lance, Eileen (Kevin) MacKenzie and Wilma (Brian) Backus; sister-in laws, Darlene (Steve) Bishop, Norma (Mervin) Meyers, Bertha Goodwin; brother-in-law, Delbert (Sally) Larson and numerous nieces, nephews and many good friends.
