February 1, 1945 – February 3, 2022
Steve Blakely was born Feb.1, 1945 in Pictou NS and passed away Feb. 3, 2022.
He grew up in Miramichi, NB with many siblings. He later moved to western Canada. He started working at a young age and over his lifetime was a horse logger, tree trimmer, faller and truck driver. He broke his back April 18, 1991.He was then confined to a wheelchair but that didn’t slow him down.
He built furniture and coffins. He loved to write poetry. He loved kids and they loved to ride with him on his wheelchair. He came into care with the Fords in 1997 and enjoyed farm life. He spent the last two years in LTC in Olds where he was well cared for.
He is survived by his children, Donna, Bill, Brian, Gordon, Lessa and Rebecca as well as 14 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.
He was predeceased by several brothers and sisters and a nephew. He is also survived by his remaining sisters and brothers and numerous nieces and nephews. He is also survived by the Fords- Ivan and Linda and family. He will be greatly missed.
