1959 - 2021
It is with heavy hearts the family of Eric Leth Iversen of Olds Alberta, announce his passing on May 10th 2021 at the age of 62 years, after a brief but courageous battle with cancer.
Eric was born April 30, 1959 in Calgary Alberta, to Kristine (Leth) and the late Aage Iversen, and was the oldest of two siblings. Eric was a farmer through and through whether it was running the family dairy farm with his brother John near Olds or serving on many agriculture boards. He took great pride in everything he did. Eric’s career in the agriculture industry showed many positions from vice presidency to being the president. He was influential, confident, knowledgeable, dedicated and had many talents that flourished many contributions to his career.
Beginning with serving on the Olds Ag Society board of directors for 35 years, and finally his greatest pride, was serving as WestGen president for the last three years. This allowed him the opportunity to travel and socialize, two of his favorite things. Eric was always able to strike up a conversation with anyone and was able to connect with countless people over the years. He valued the friendship of many. Serving years on the WestGen board, he made many great differences to all Western Canadian Farmers and was highly respected by his peers for helping move the company forward and grow in their legacy. Eric was always viewed as a people’s person and a leader. He will be remembered by all that knew him whether it was by his distinct blue DeLaval coveralls while working on the farm or driving his ever-beloved stack wagon getting the hay in before the rain came. As well as his long stride, friendly demeanor and quick wit as he wore his silver belly cowboy hat, walking into board rooms. His personality will be missed by all.
He is survived by his three children; Noah, Lars (Josie), Laura (Marc); brother John (Debbie) and their children Luke and Abbey; mother Kristine Iversen and predeceased by his father Aage Iversen. He is also survived by girlfriend Joanne and her daughter Sabrina. We hope that when we meet again there will be plenty of tall beers, tall men and tall tales in plenty.
A celebration will be held at a later date. Memorial tributes may be made directly to Olds & District Hospice Society or Olds Hospital – Palliative Care.
