1939 – 2023
Mrs. Grace Alberta Penner (Brittain) of Innisfail, Alberta passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 15, 2023, at the age of 83 years, surrounded by her loving family.
Grace was born in Elnora, Alberta to Ralph and Edna Buckland on July 15, 1939. She grew up on the family farm east of Elnora with her brother, Donald and sister, Gloria. She enjoyed riding horses and working in the vegetable garden with her mother. Grace was very congenial and had lots of friends. She later met her husband, Ernest Brittain, they were married in 1956 and had forty-four years together. They spent most of the years in Innisfail raising their four beloved children. The family enjoyed many activities such as camping and going on picnics. It was with great sadness when Ernest passed away in the year 2001.
Grace was an avid volunteer and worked many jobs, but her favourite was driving school bus. Gordon Penner entered into Grace’s life, and they were married in October of 2002. Gordon and Grace loved to travel and spent many enjoyable years together.
Grace will be lovingly remembered by her loving husband, Gordon Penner and his family, her son, Harvey (Evelyn) Brittain, her daughter-in-law, Barb Brittain, her daughters, Carol (Wade) Forsyth and Charlene (James) Zielke, her ten grandchildren, her thirteen great grandchildren and her brother, Donald (Pat) Buckland.
Grace was predeceased by her father and mother, Ralph and Edna Buckland, her husband, Ernest Brittain, a sister, Gloria and a son, Jim Brittain.
A Celebration of Grace’s Life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 4, 2023 at the Innisfail Church of the Nazarene, 4904 – 48 Street, Innisfail, Alberta. A Reception will be held following the Service. If desired, Memorial Donations in Grace’s honor may be made to a Charity of the Donor’s Choice.
