Fortis Alberta customers along 50th Avenue in Olds may have less interruptions in their power supply this winter now that the power line feeding their homes and businesses has been reinforced.
A scheduled power outage affected 18 customers along the avenue between 9 and 10 a.m. Sunday morning as power company crews conducted maintenance on the line.
“The maintenance is to make sure that if we have severe conditions that (the line) would be able to withstand it,” said Jennifer MacGowan, Fortis director of communications.
She said heavy snow in the past has caused the line to go down.
Customers were given 72 hours notice of the planned outage.
