A mobile home fire in Bowden claimed two lives last Sunday.

Olds RCMP and the Bowden fire department were called to the Bowden Estates Trailer Park at approximately 1:24 a.m. to respond to a mobile home fire.

Once the fire was extinguished, the bodies of the home's two residents, a 49-year-old male and a 42-year-old female, were found inside.

“From looking at the trailer and having been inside it, it appears that the kitchen and the living room area sustained the most damage,” said Cpl. Troy Byrt, Olds RCMP.

“The rear of the trailer was intact.”

The names of the deceased are being withheld at this time pending next-of-kin notifications.

Olds RCMP is currently investigating the cause of the fire with the help of the Calgary RCMP Major Crimes Unit and the Provincial Fire Commissioner. Preliminary investigation has already determined that the fire was accidental in nature.

Olds RCMP remind homeowners to periodically check their smoke alarms to ensure they are in working order and functioning properly.
