A trio of Grade 12 students led the way with multiple academic recognitions during the 55th annual awards at Bowden Grandview School.
Darby McPhee won the Rockin' H Arena Award for the highest academic standing in Grade 12. With that award, McPhee collected a plaque and $300. McPhee was also in a group of eight students who earned Overall Honours recognition.
The Grade 12 student also had the highest academic standing and/or honours in the individual subjects of English, mathematics 30-1 and 31, chemistry, biology and social studies.
McPhee was also one of 19 students who shared the BGS Incentive Scholarship, worth $2,000, for having more than 115 high school credits, and was a co-winner of the $300 Bowden Historical Society Award.
Chelsey Jasper earned the Most Outstanding Student in Grade 12 Award, as well as the Premier's Award for Citizenship, the $500 Bowden Lions Club Leadership Award and was co-winner of the Bowden Historical Society Award.
Jasper was also in a group of eight students who earned Overall Honours recognition, and was a co-winner of the BGS Credit Incentive Scholarship. She also claimed honours recognition in several individual subjects, including biology, social studies and mathematics 31.
Lakeisha Robertson was the winner of the $500 Filipenko Math/Physics Award, Governor General's Academic Medal. Robertson also earned honours recognition for several individual subjects, including mathematics 30-1 and 31, chemistry and biology, and social studies.
The Grade 12 student was also a co-winner of the BGS Credit Incentive Scholarship.
The three students each received a $2,500 Rutherford Scholarship, given to a student for achieving academic excellence in grades 10, 11 and 12.
The awards program at Bowden Grandview School is designed to provide incentive for achievement as well as to reward excellence.
