Bowden updates MDP, LUB

The Town of Bowden recently updated its Municipal Development Plan and Land Use Bylaw to bring them more in line with current practice within the town.

The Town of Bowden recently updated its Municipal Development Plan and Land Use Bylaw to bring them more in line with current practice within the town.

While no changes were made to the MDP, the municipal map was updated to reflect changes that have gone on with the Land Use Bylaw and the Inter-municipal Development Plan maps since the last major review in 2004.

“As far as the Land Use Bylaw, we did a much-needed review, so there's some new definitions in place, regulations, just to help bring everything up to where it is now. It meets the residents' needs and the town's needs as well,” said Kristina Schmidt, a planner with Parkland Community Planning Services, who assisted the town with the update.

It took about a year to complete the review.

Mayor Robb Stuart said the revision of these two bylaws is in keeping with six other bylaws that have been updated so far this year, making sure all the town's bylaws get updated to reflect current practices and costs. For the most part, minor changes were made to the MDP and LUB.

“Mainly it's just word changes and the fines (that have been changed),” he said, adding that the fines for contraventions of the bylaws have increased to at least $250 unless otherwise specified.
