An Olds High School student charged with sexual assault, forcible confinement, uttering threats and two counts of assault was acquitted in Didsbury court on Wednesday, Sept. 10.

Crown lawyer Jillian Pawlow told the court that new evidence had been presented and there was no reasonable chance of a conviction.

Pawlow opted not to provide evidence during the trial and provincial court judge Judith Shriar dismissed all charges.

The charges resulted from an alleged incident on March 25 in what's known as a “breakout room” at Olds High School.
