The two suspects charged in the Feb. 1 robbery of the Rexall Drug Store will be appearing in Didsbury Provincial Court July 7 for a preliminary hearing.
The decision was made after the father and son from Red Deer had a hearing in Didsbury Provincial Court last Wednesday.
The hearing will determine whether there is enough evidence against Stanley Cox, 46, and Tyler Cox, 21, both of Red Deer, to send them to trial.
The two are facing seven charges and nine charges respectively for the investigation related to the Rexall Drug Store robbery as well as 35 additional charges related to other investigations.
On Feb. 1 at 5:55 p.m. police say two masked persons entered the Rexall Pharmacy. They were both armed with firearms, one with a long barrelled gun and one with a handgun. They quickly proceeded towards the rear of the store and gathered up an employee on their way.
They guided the employee with them to the pharmacy area where they demanded narcotics from a safe. Once they had the narcotics, they left the scene. They made off with a significant quantity of narcotic medication including oxycontin, amphetamines, morphine and codeine.
