An Olds suspect learned the hard way that attempting to evade the police is never a good choice.
On April 17, at approximately 10:20 p.m., the 39-year-old male Olds motorcyclist was travelling eastbound on 55 Street near Deer Meadow School when an RCMP member attempted a police stop.
“There was an equipment violation. However, the vehicle took off,” said Const. Brendan Ward, Olds RCMP.
“As our policy states, we won't pursue in that situation.”
As the suspect went around the corner just before the four-way stop, he lost control of the motorcycle.
“It appears that the motorcyclist crashed into the dumpsters that are there,” said Cpl. Troy Byrt, Olds RCMP.
The motorcyclist was transported to the Olds hospital for examination, before being transferred to the Foothills hospital.
“The motorcyclist's injuries are not life-threatening,” said Cpl. Byrt.
During the course of the investigation, it was discovered that the motorcycle had been stolen in Calgary.
Robby Noel has been charged with three counts of breaching a recognizance, operating a motor vehicle while disqualified, possession of stolen property, driving an uninsured motor vehicle, improper display of licence plates, having no licence plate lights, and failure to stop for a peace officer.
