The new Mountain View Credit Union building on 65 Avenue opened for business on Jan. 13.

The 4,050-square-metre building houses the credit union's local branch and administrative staff along with a business banking centre and support services.

The new building is a step forward, according to Craig Witcher, the branch's manager.

ìIt's been very positive. The nice part is we've got everyone under one roof now. It's going to be a lot more (efficient) internally and it's going to be better for our membership because they're not going to have to come by the branch and then we have to direct them down the road to see some of our folks at the business banking centre,î he said.

Mountain View Seniors' Housing is currently the lone tenant that is leasing space on the third floor of the new building but the credit union is actively seeking more tenants for that space as well as a smaller space on the main floor.

Witcher said customers have given the new building positive reviews and are especially happy with the increased parking available in comparison to the old branch location uptown. While there are currently more than 80 parking spaces available, the plan is to add about 50 more spaces in the summertime.

ìEveryone is coming in and appreciating the new building as far as the openness and the idea of having everyone in one location. We are going to develop some land from a parking perspective from some of the strain we've noticed even now,î he said.

Witcher said customers have also had positive comments about the drive-thru ATM, a feature that wasn't available at the old location.

ìThat will definitely be more convenient for folks that want to not get out of their vehicle,î he said.

The building the credit union formerly occupied on 50 Avenue is currently for sale.
