The Olds Figure Skating Club will be hosting the fourth annual movie in the park on August 18 at Centennial Park.
This year's selection is The Lorax. Gates open at 7 p.m. with the movie beginning at about 9 p.m. or at dusk.
Lisa Land, past president of the OFSC, said the suggested donation to the club is $3 per person for one of the club's major fundraisers.
“Since this (fundraiser) has been very successful (in the past) for us, it allows us to take the monies and apply it to our ice fees as well as our coaching fees to ensure that families are able to put their children in. If we had to charge (figure skaters) what it costs us on an annual basis, our costs to skating families would be phenomenal,” she said.
“It's a great family event. People come with their children of all ages,” she said, adding that people should dress for the weather, as it gets cool after the sun goes down.
The club will be hosting several other fundraisers throughout the skating season, including a CanSkate competition that allows novice skaters to show their skills in front of judges. Skaters from other communities will also be invited to participate at the event.
A concession will also be on site at the park.
