The Olds and District Chamber of Commerce has released its nominees for its annual awards recognizing the best of the local business community.
The awards will be handed out on Oct. 17 at the Olds College Alumni Centre.
There are 45 people and businesses nominated in six separate categories, including the business of the year with 15 or fewer employees, the business of the year with 16 or more employees, the business with the best community spirit, the youth employee of the year, the people's choice (business) and exceptional customer service award (employee).
“It's recognition of the good customer service and community service that they've shown to their customers. I think this is very important for them to be recognized in that way, especially since it's coming from other businesses that are recognizing them,” said Doug Rieberger, president of the Olds and District Chamber of Commerce.
Rieberger said the number of nominees this year — the most ever — is an indication of how well those businesses have served their customers. There are 12 nominees in the 15-or-fewer employee category, two in the over 16-employee category, six in the community spirit category, four nominees for the youth employee of the year, 11 nominees in the people's choice (business) and 10 nominees for the exceptional customer service award.
