The Olds Agricultural Society will start hosting the Olds Farmers' Market this Thursday from 4 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at the Cow Palace, for the ninth year in a row.
As of last week, 19 vendors had requested rental tables, with people still calling and wanting to register.
“All my regulars aren't on the list so we will probably have another 10 to 12 vendors on top of that,” said Tanya Goodwin, Olds Agricultural Society facilities booking agent.
While the market will have a couple of new vendors this year, Goodwin says it's nothing too substantial.
However, the Olds Agricultural Society has slightly changed the layout of the market. This year, the vendors needing a roof will be in the front part of the Cow Palace foyer, with the rest of the vendors on the side of the building, along 54 Street.
“The exposure from the road for the vendors is a little bit better,” said Goodwin.
Olds residents will be able to buy fruits, vegetables, sewing items, knitting items, baked products and woodworking at the market, as well as many others.
“I think that Olds residents enjoy the farmers' market. It's generally a nice afternoon out,” said Goodwin.
“People get to come down and purchase quality products.”
The market will run from May 24 to Sept. 20. Due to events being held in the Cow Palace, the market will be outside only on June 28, July 5, July 26, and August 23. There will also be no market on July 12.
