OLDS — Final details for the 54th annual Olds Kiwanis Fall Auction have been hammered out in the wake of the province’s new COVID-19 pandemic restrictions.
The auction, the club’s biggest fundraiser, is going online this year, 24 hours a day from 9 a.m. Dec. 1 to 6 p.m. Dec. 3 via Rosehill Auction Mart & Auction Service Ltd. To bid on items, go to www.oldsauction.com/rosehill-live.
People can view items up for auction online if they wish at www.oldsauction.com/rosehill-live.
Or they can now view them in person in the large hall of the Olds Royal Canadian Legion Branch #105 from noon to 6 p.m.
On Friday, Dec. 4, successful bidders can come in to the Legion, pick their purchases up and pay for them from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
The club had hoped to continue running the auction at the Legion, as it has for years, but this year that just wasn’t possible, due to the pandemic restrictions.
It wasn’t certain if the club would be able to allow people to view auction items in person, but they’ve been given the green light to do so in the Legion’s large hall because that will allow plenty of room for physical distancing.
Indeed, all the COVID-19 protocol will be in place, says Murray Elliott, president of the Kiwanis Club of Olds.
"We’ve taken every precaution,” he said. “We encourage everyone to have a look and bid. It’s the biggest fundraiser of the year for the Kiwanis Club of Olds.”
