OLDS — An Olds resident faces two charges after being arrested in connection with a drug bust in the Whitecourt area.
Garnet Marcellus 29, of Olds was one of five people arrested by RCMP after an investigation by Whitecourt RCMP and an Edmonton Alberta Law Enforcement Team (ALERT) into cocaine trafficking in the Whitecourt area.
Search warrants were conducted in Whitecourt and Woodlands County.
Over the course of the investigation, more than $27,000 in cash, 463 grams of cocaine, and 43.5 grams of ketamine were recovered and seized.
Marcellus was charged with trafficking cocaine and possession of property under $5,000 obtained by crime.
Also charged are two residents of Woodland county: Jesse Jackson, 34, and Mariah Jackson, 24.
Jesse faces two counts of trafficking cocaine, possession of property over $5,000 obtained by crime, and possession of property under $5,000 obtained by crime.
Mariah Jackson is charged with trafficking cocaine and possession of property over $5,000 obtained by crime.
Debra Letcher, 62, of Whitecourt faces nine charges, including three counts of trafficking cocaine, possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking, possession of ketamine for the purpose of trafficking, possession of property over $5,000 obtained by crime, and three counts of possession of property under $5,000 obtained by crime.
Jeri Jackson, 30, also of Whitecourt, faces five counts of trafficking cocaine, possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking, possession of ketamine for the purpose of trafficking, possession of property over $5,000 obtained by crime, and five counts of possession of property under $5,000 obtained by crime.
In addition to Whitecourt RCMP, the investigation, which lasted several months, also involved Edmonton police as well as Grande Prairie ALERT, Edson RCMP and the RCMP’s Western Alberta District general investigation section.
