As a grieving family prepares a funeral for a 21 year old whose body was discovered on the side of the road near Olds, RCMP are using tips from the public to help find her killer.

The RCMP began its investigation of murdered mother of one, Jenna Cartwright, on May 3 when area residents found her body on Rge. Rd. 10 about four kilometres northeast of Olds.

According to police, the results of the autopsy concluded that the death should be consider as a murder, but the actual cause of death is not being released.

“We've had some people come forward with information. It appears to be useful and perhaps valuable information, but we're still looking for public help in anyone else who may have even the smallest contact with Jenna, to come forward and tell us what that was all about. We've got a lot of information, a lot we can work on, (but need more information),” said Sgt. Patrick Webb, communications liaison for the RCMP's southern Alberta district.

Cartwright was reported missing on April 12 and was last seen in Red Deer on March 29.

Webb said the RCMP is looking to hear from anyone who may have come into contact with Cartwright to give investigators that information, no matter how insignificant it may appear to be.

“We consider it a jigsaw puzzle and some people may have what they think is meaningless information … but we may be … able to use that,” he said.

Lynda Cartwright, Jenna's mother, said she is hopeful that the police investigation will bring her daughter's killer to justice, but that RCMP have not been in contact with the family regarding its progress.

“The police aren't talking to any of us. They're not telling us anything. (The media) are going to hear (details) a lot sooner than I will,” she said.

She said the family has been busy organizing Jenna's funeral — a private family function — which has been slated for May 20.

“I'm just tending to Jenna's funeral and getting that prepared and letting them (the police) do their job. It's a time (the funeral) to have Jenna come back to Red Deer. She's being cremated,” Lynda said.
