Organizers of the second-annual Rotary Ride for Ronald fundraiser in Olds are hoping to bring out even more participants this year.
Last year, 35 riders took part in the motorcycle convoy that travels between Olds and Wayne, raising $12,000 for Ronald McDonald Houses in Red Deer and Calgary, and ride chair Dave Hogarth said he'd like to see at least 60 riders this year.
The ride leaves the Olds Wal-Mart parking lot at 10 a.m. on Sept. 7 and ends up at the Last Chance Saloon in Wayne at about 1:30 p.m.
Registration begins at 9 a.m. and costs $25, which includes breakfast in the Wal-Mart parking lot and lunch in Wayne.
This year's event will also include a “poker ride,” Hogarth said, where riders can pick up one card at each of the five stops along the route.
The rider with the best hand at the end of the ride wins a 40-inch LED television.
All registration money, along with donations, go to the two Ronald McDonald Houses, which provide accommodations for out-of-town families who have sick children receiving medical attention in a hospital in those cities.
Hogarth said the ride is also still looking for another major sponsor.
