OLDS — Seasons Olds and Seasons Olds Encore collected the third most cans among Seasons retirement facilities in the country during the company’s annual One Can Can Make a Difference campaign for food banks.
During the campaign, held July 3-14, retirement homes in the company chain participated in a challenge to collect the most canned and non-perishable food items for their local food bank.
Seasons Olds and Olds Encore collected a total of 697 cans for the Mountain View Food Bank. A Seasons facility in Ontario finished first, collecting 1,400 cans.
This year, Seasons Retirement Communities across Canada collected more than 6,300 cans and donated a combined total of $42,000 to Food Banks Canada.
All homes collected a total of 875 more cans this year than last year.
“The Seasons’ One ‘Can’ Corporate Challenge reinforces our commitment to supporting seniors in our communities, given that food insecurity remains a prevalent problem among older adults,” Kirsten Irwin, general manager at Seasons Retirement Communities in Olds said in a news release.
“It is of great importance to contribute to the communities our residents and team members call home. We are pleased to continue donating to Mountain View Food Bank Society,” Seasons Olds Encore general manager Liberty Poon added.
