Olds is now home to a second Lions Den, thanks to another donation by the service club.

The Olds Lions Club donated $97,000 to the Mountain View Housing Foundation (MVHF) to benefit seniors living in the Olds Mount View Lodge.

Housing officials held an acknowledgement ceremony last Wednesday in the ‘Lions Den' alongside a feature fireplace and plaque built for the enjoyment of seniors residing at the lodge and to honour what they called a valuable donation from the Olds Lions Club.

The Lions donation has been provided for use in furnishing activity rooms and lounges and to assist with setting up equipment in the fitness room.

The money represents casino funds raised by the Lions and matched funds from Community Enhancement grants.

Housing officials acknowledged the donation will enhance the quality of living and housing available to seniors residing at the lodge.

Mountain View Housing Foundation (MVHF) is a registered charity through which funds are raised to assist the work of Mountain View Seniors' Housing and to help support four lodges operating within Mountain View County.

The Lions Club made a similar donation in 2010 to the Olds Municipal Library. Because of the club's $80,000 contribution to the new video conferencing room in the library, it was named 'Lions Den' in honour of the club.
