Successful show

The 54th annual Didsbury light horse show, held July 9 and 10 was a success because of its volunteers, staff and sponsors, said Didsbury Agricultural Society secretary and organizer Kerry Salisbury.

The show was staged in the equestrian arena at the ag society grounds north of Didsbury, in cold, rainy weather.

Participation was down compared to previous years with just 30 horses entered and several classes cancelled, but the smaller audience and competitor group saw excellent, competitive riding in all classes.

“Next year is the 55th anniversary of the show and the ag society will be preparing early for the milestone event,” said Salisbury.

“Once again we will have the support of volunteers and sponsors for what has become a premier summer event here,” she said.

The next ag society event this summer is the annual rodeo on Aug. 12, 13 and 14.
