A total of $6,300 was raised in Olds for the 31st edition of the Terry Fox Run, with 55 people participating in the event which started and finished at Centennial Park.
Grace Fletch, the main organizer of the event, was also given special recognition from the Terry Fox Foundation for her 28 years of dedicated service in being the main organizer of the event in Olds. Prior to that, Fletch had helped out the organizers.
Fletch said originally, she got asked to help out the organizers, but after a couple of years the organization of the event got left in her hands, and she's been doing it ever since. But it's been a cause she has believed in.
“I just liked doing it. I just think there's one thing in your life to be passionate about and this is my one thing,” she said, adding, “we have a real dedicated group of people who come out every year.”
This year's participation level in the five-kilometre event was about the same as average.
