The Town of Olds has drafted its letter petitioning Alberta Transportation to install advanced left turn signals at Highway 27 and 57 Avenue.

The Town of Olds has drafted its letter petitioning Alberta Transportation to install advanced left turn signals at Highway 27 and 57 Avenue.

In council, Mayor Judy Dahl said she hand delivered the letter to Transportation and Infrastructure Minister Brian Mason on March 9.

The letter states there were 24 collisions at the intersection between June 2014 and December 2015. This year, there have been two, it continues.

"We have requested that this improvement be made a number of times in the past with a response from Alberta Transportation that the investment does not meet your warrant system requirements. The warrant system may not be adequate for this intersection."

Further, "Council ranks the value of this investment ‘life or death' considering the evidence-based facts of accidents at this intersection."
