Winnipeg band The F-Holes will bring its original music blend to Tracks Pub this Wednesday at 8 p.m.
Don't think that the band's name is what it looks like. The band is actually named after the little f-shaped sound holes that are found on many acoustic instruments.
The F-Holes was formed in 2004 and is composed of Leclerc, guitarist and bassist Eric Lemoine, percussionist Evan Friesen, guitarist and saxophonist Blake Thompson, and trumpeter Jimmie James McKee. Moreover, all members share vocals duty.
“A lot of us have known each other and played together since we were teenagers,” said Patrick Leclerc, F-Holes bassist and vocalist.
“We picked a couple of members along the way as well in our 20s. We have been together in this lineup for six years.”
The band plays a blend of dixieland, rockabilly, country, blues, swing, and roots.
The present tour is in support of the band's second album Angel in the Corner, as well as its upcoming third album Red Hot.
“We are set to release a third album in July,” said Leclerc.
“It's going to be just cover tunes, songs that we have been playing a lot in our live shows but never made it to our records.”
Fans can expect to find songs from Hank Williams, Tom Waits, and Merle Travis on the album.
“We have been touring these songs around with us for a long time,' said Leclerc.
“We thought it was time to get them down. They are a part of our sound.”
The band will be touring Western and Central Canada until the end of July.
