Based on submissions from a contest held earlier this year, Olds College has selected names for four beers it will begin brewing in September when the school's new teaching brewery opens.
Hay City, Aggie Ale, Old Skhool and Prairie Gold were the chosen names and the winning entries were suggested by Rachel Maud-Clarke of Olds, Bernie Dyck of Calgary, Cole Litttlechilds of Lac La Biche and Lynn Dijkman of Shemogue, N.B., respectively.
The names were selected from entries sent in from the public earlier this year. The winners will receive a framed, limited edition beer label for each of the four beers, a private tour of the brewery, the opportunity to be a “brewer for a day” and an invitation to the grand opening reception of the brewery.
