The Students' Association of Olds College (SAOC) is going to the dogs. Next week (the week of Dec. 8) it's bringing in puppies to help students cope with the stress of writing exams.

Drivers in the Olds area fared well during the latest snowfall last week, which resulted in multiple crashes along Highway 2 and elsewhere in the province. RCMP across Alberta responded to more than 600 collisions between Thursday, Nov.

Olds College's women's volleyball team was swept by Briercrest College in their weekend matches from November 28-29. The eighth-ranked Clippers visited the Ralph Klein Centre and took the first match 3-2.

Budgets in Olds and other communities in Central Alberta are being hammered out, but for the moment, the Town of Bowden is in a kind of limbo in that regard, according to chief administrative officer Andy Weiss.

The Christmas lights are up on main street in Bowden, but eventually they're going to have to be replaced, due to wear and tear plus age, Mayor Robb Stuart says. That topic arose during the regular Bowden town council meeting this past week.

A record number of shoeboxes filled with supplies for children have been collected at First Baptist Church in Olds and are now in Calgary being sorted for delivery to needy children and families around the world.

The Town of Olds will be removing trees along Highway 2A (southbound) from Highway 27 to 47th Street today (Tuesday, Dec. 2). Traffic will be diverted to 49th Avenue effective immediately until approximately 3 p.m. this afternoon.

A man accused in connection with the trashing of an Olds business will be back in court Jan. 26. Boyd Raymond Fleming is charged with break and enter and mischief in connection with the break-in to – and trashing of – Torrock Towing in Olds.

Due to the very cold weather forecast for this weekend, the Olds Fashioned Christmas Light Up parade and outdoor activities have been postponed until next Saturday, Dec. 6.

Innisfail-Sylvan Lake MLA Kerry Towle was one of two Wildrose MLAs who bolted yesterday (Nov. 24) from the provincial official Opposition to the governing Progressive Conservative Party.
