A grief management workshop will on Monday, May 7 be hosted at the Sundre Arts Centre.

There comes a time when all of us find ourselves confronted with grief.

Grief comes in different forms and impacts each of us in a unique way. Some of us experience anticipatory grief. We have the opportunity to deal with an upcoming loss but aren’t sure how to manage what we are feeling. We may still be consumed in grief over the loss of a loved one. You have told us that grief can be hard to work through.

The Sundre Palliative Care Association is pleased to welcome Rick Bergh to present a daylong workshop on grief. Bergh has personal experience as well as years of listening and talking with those who are in the midst of their grief. He will help us to understand what we are experiencing and provide us with tools to help manage it. Bergh is a narrative speaker and uses stories to help give insight.

A special segment of the workshop will be a presentation by Erica Phare-Bergh who works with persons with Alzheimer’s and choir music. This promises to be an informative topic. If you are a caregiver for someone with Alzheimer’s disease or have an interest in music this will be something you won’t want to miss.

The workshop will take place on Monday, May 7 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Sundre Arts Centre. In order to prepare, we would like you to RSVP before the day. The RSVP date has been moved to accommodate those who are just finding out about the workshop. Please call me at 403-335-8481 or send an email to [email protected]. The cost of the workshop is $10, which will cover the lunch and refreshments.

We encourage you to come spend the day with us. It is our great pleasure to bring Rick and Erica to our community. Our hope is that this workshop will bring knowledge, hope and healing to us. We look forward to seeing you!

— Diana Kleinloog is the Sundre Palliative Care Association president
