A missing quadriplegic male was located west of Sundre last week.
Walter Lungal, 57, had last been seen leaving his Eckville residence on Wednesday, April 13 driving a Silver Buick Terraza. Police issued a statement, and had reason to believe he had made his way within the rural area of Clearwater County.
The following morning, on Thursday, April 14, an oilfield operator called the RCMP at about 10:30 a.m. to report the discovery of Lungal in his vehicle, which was found west of the Forestry Trunk Road on an oilfield lease site, said police.
The Sundre RCMP, EMS and fire rescue attended the remote rural location and found Lungal alone in his vehicle.
He was subsequently airlifted by STARS to the Foothills Medical Centre in Calgary in a serious but stable condition that was not believed to be life-threatening, said police.
The Sundre RCMP's Sgt. Jim Lank expressed his appreciation for the oilfield workers who promptly reported the situation and provided some basic first aid until emergency crews arrived.
