Sundre's council approved last week a request to extend by one year a regional mutual aid agreement for fire services.

Originally written in October 2012, the document recently expired, Linda Nelson, administrator, informed council during the Dec. 11 meeting.

"This is an item coming forward from the regional CAOs (chief administrative officers) partnership," said Nelson.

"We are asking that council extend the mutual aid agreement for one year to give opportunity to have a look at writing a new mutual aid agreement."

Council was also asked to direct administration to draft a letter of support to the Town of Carstairs for an application for funding from the Alberta Community Partnership Program, she said.

"They would take the lead on this, and this is to apply for funding to assist in the writing of the new agreement."

Council proceeded to unanimously carry two motions to that effect.
